From Albany or other points east of Beardslee Castle

Short Detour due to bridge construction adds no time to your trip....

Take the NYS Thruway to exit 29, Canajoharie
immediately after toll booth turn right at the stop sign.
The first traffic light is about 200 yards away, go straight thru this light.. Bear left onto Route 5s heading west.  Continue about 2 miles into Fort Plain (5s is Hancock Street).  Turn right at Main Street, road curves around to the left around the park and comes to a light with River Street (Stewarts store on your right).  Turn right, cross over the Mohawk River and turn left at the traffic light.
You are now on route 5 heading west. Beardslee Castle is about 10 miles on the right side.

Starting in August when bridge construction is complete...

At the next light (about 1/4 mile, over one bridge) turn left.
You are now on route 5 heading west. Beardslee Castle is about 13 miles on the right side.

Take the NYS Thruway to exit 29A, Little Falls....
through toll booth drive straight for 2.5 miles to a T-intersection with route 5
....turn right on route 5 (away from Little Falls).
The Castle is six miles on the left side
(about one mile after the road goes from four-lanes to two-lanes)
